Bellecôte glacier piste Chiaupe

NOTE THIS PISTE NO LONGER EXISTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO HIKE FOR IT. Although it was possible to ride the Chiaupe black from the top station of the gondola, the run actually started a little higher up from the top of the glacier chair. In truth, there was really nothing much challenging about this black run when compared to other blacks, in other resorts. The aspect that normally made it more difficult is the fact it was kept as one of La Plagne’s ‘Natur’ runs – meaning it didn’t get pisted and the moguls could get pretty tricky.

La Plagne expert piste Chiaupe (removed)
Regardless, the piste was still worth doing for the incredible views – particularly from the top of the glacier chair itself over Les Trois Vallées, the Isère valley and beyond to Mont Blanc far in the distance.
- Snow-sure
- Incredible views
- Lots of off-piste opportunities
- It is isolated
- Lifts back up are slow
- The glacier is rarely open
