Glacier lifts: In 2024 La Plagne’s lift company, SAP, installed the new Glacier gondola, creating a revised route to the high alpine terrain above Roche de Mio. The lift now runs via a mid-station at Col de Forcle before continuing up towards the Bellecôte glacier area, giving skiers, snowboarders and pedestrians easier access to the upper reaches of the resort.
The ‘glacier’ itself has receded significantly over recent decades, but the sector still offers high-altitude snow conditions and big-mountain scenery, especially when accessed from Plagne Centre via the Funiplagne and the Petite Rochette piste down to the mid-station.

Quick tip: The glacier side still offers high-altitude terrain, big views and a more exposed mountain environment, so proper cover is worth sorting before your trip. In France, rescue and evacuation costs can be charged to you even on marked pistes.
Good ski insurance helps cover medical treatment, lift evacuation and cancellation if something goes wrong before or during your holiday.
