Biolley / Aime 2000 expert runs: Along with the Bellecôte Glacier area, the Biolley / Aime 2000 sector of La Plagne has the highest concentration of steep black runs – plus some great options for off-piste riding (particularly in the bowls behind Aime 2000).
In truth though, if you’re looking for the most challenging riding in La Plagne, you should consider hiring a guide and exploring the backcountry options. Although the Étroits and Crête Côte in this sector are worth a look, the biggest challenges in La Plagne lie off the side of the glacier and around Roche de Mio. Quick tip: If you’re heading for the Biolley blacks, the last thing you want is badly fitted boots or equipment that feels wrong from the first turn. Booking ski or snowboard hire in advance usually means cheaper prices online, better availability and a much smoother start once you arrive.
When the terrain gets steeper and more technical, confidence in your equipment matters just as much as confidence in your riding.

Quick tip: The Biolley blacks are among the steeper marked runs in this part of La Plagne, and the off-piste options nearby raise the stakes even more. In France, rescue and evacuation costs can be charged to you even on marked runs, so it’s worth sorting proper cover before you head up.
Good ski insurance helps cover medical treatment, lift evacuation and cancellation if something goes wrong before or during your holiday.
