Grande Rochette / Plagne Centre advanced pistes: While reds are limited in the Grande Rochette sector, the Carina red piste off Grande Rochette (served by the Funiplagne) accesses the red Kamikaze run in the Champagny sector. Indeed, the Carina is so steep in places that it would likely be rated as black in other resorts.
Nonetheless, most skiers and snowboarders will enjoy the vast array of flowing, fast blue pistes in this area – regardless of ability. Check our La Plagne routes page to see combination runs to maximise the vert drop or visit the iRide / LaPlagne360 YouTube channel for more info.

Quick tip: Grande Rochette is one of the busiest gateways in La Plagne, and even strong riders will often pass through it during the day. Booking your ski or snowboard hire in advance usually means cheaper prices online, better availability and a much smoother start once you arrive in resort.
Choose a shop close to your accommodation so collecting your gear is quick and easy.

Quick tip: Grande Rochette doesn’t have many reds, but the ones it does have can feel properly steep in places, especially when conditions change. In France, rescue and evacuation costs can be charged to you even on marked runs, so it’s worth sorting proper cover before your trip.
Good ski insurance helps cover medical treatment, lift evacuation and cancellation if something goes wrong before or during your holiday.
