The majority of La Plagne’s slower fixed-grip TSF chairlifts serve mostly beginner areas or are used for accessing different parts of the resort – meaning skiers and snowboarders only really need to ride them once to get around the various sectors of the resort.
For beginner riders, the very slow Boulevard chairlift above Plagne 1800 and below Plagne Villages and Plagne Soleil gives access to the perfect beginner zone (as well as Plagne Centre), removing the all-too-common fear of lift accidents on the way back up.

Quick tip: If you’re skiing quieter parts of the mountain and linking across the resort on slower fixed chairs, it still pays to sort your ski or snowboard hire before you travel. Booking online is usually cheaper, gives you a better choice of sizes and makes your first morning much easier once you get to resort.
That means less faff in resort and more time getting your bearings on day one.

Quick tip: Even if you’re spending time on gentler terrain or beginner-friendly zones served by fixed chairs, proper insurance still matters. In France, rescue and evacuation costs can be charged to you, even on marked runs.
Good ski insurance helps cover medical treatment, lift evacuation and cancellation if something goes wrong before or during your trip.
