If you’re coming to La Plagne on holiday and are of an early intermediate level or above, it’s well worth investing in the full Paradiski list pass that will access to the full Paradiski area. Below is the Les Arcs piste map. Also, to see how these resorts tie in with the each other, take a look at the Paradiski 3d map video or Paradiski flythrough video.

Paradiski refers to the joint areas of La Plagne and Les Arcs, making this the world’s third-largest ski area with 425km of pisted runs. The differences between La Plagne and Les Arcs are significant with Les Arcs tending to be favoured by more advanced skiers and snowboarders. That said, the area still has great beginner/intermediate runs on offer too – although most would agree La Plagne’s blue runs are better and more plentiful.

Going from La Plagne and Les Arcs is easy via the massive Vanoise Express cable car – a double-decker behemoth that was once the world’s largest cable car lift. The trip takes between five and ten minutes, doubling the available ski and snowboard area and terrain.

The Vanoise Express cable car (noted far right of the piste map below) leaves La Plagne from a little above Montchavin and gives direct access to Les Arcs’ Peisey-Vallandry area. In this sector of Les Arcs, you’ll find some excellent blue and red runs. Indeed this area has one of the biggest and widest beginner areas in the Alps located on a huge plateau above the village of Peisey. To access Les Arcs, keep heading left which will bring you to the main hub above Les Arcs 1800. From this hub of lifts, the whole area is accessible.

Most skiers and snowboarders would agree that La Plagne tends to offer more mellow riding, best suited to early intermediates and above. That doesn’t mean there aren’t significant La Plagne off-piste challenges but, in the main, the pistes are slightly more forgiving on this side of Paradiski. Of course, this isn’t taking account of one of the toughest backcountry routes in the Alps – the famed Bellecôte North Face – as well as the extensive off-piste riding in the Champagny sector.
