Kamikaze red piste: The Champagny piste Kamikaze red run is accessed from either Les Verdons (taking the Verdons blue) or from Grande Rochette via the Carina red.
This run is most testing at the top where it’s steepest – but the top section really doesn’t last long (we’re talking tens of metres, not hundreds). After a short, steep pitch the run mellows considerably before joining the Bozelet blue for a short section.

La Plagne advanced piste Kamikaze: Kamikaze is a wide-open, motorway-style piste with a gradient that’s perfect for laying out long, lazy carving turns.
Laps are possible on this run thanks to the Verdons Sud chair and, due to La Plagne’s popularity with predominantly beginner / intermediate riders, it rarely gets busy.
It’s also a great example of how there are quite a few strong red runs in the Champagny sector if you want something faster and more open than the blues.

Quick tip: Champagny is one of the most rewarding sectors in La Plagne, but it still makes sense to sort your equipment before you arrive. Booking online usually means better prices, better availability and a much smoother first morning once you get to resort.
Choose a shop close to your accommodation so collecting your gear is quick and easy before heading up the mountain.

Kamikaze red piste: A quick pros and cons table — ideal if you want a red that skis like a proper step up at the top, but finishes with big-speed carving turns.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Interesting route | The very top is steep for a red |
| Great for carving | Bottom is more a blue |
| Long | |
| Varying gradient | |
| Incredible scenery |
Quick tip: Champagny might have a quieter feel, but it still gives access to serious terrain. In France, rescue and evacuation costs can be charged to you even on marked pistes, so it’s worth sorting proper cover before your trip.
Good ski insurance helps cover medical treatment, lift evacuation and cancellation if something goes wrong before or during your holiday.
