Depending on who you speak to, you’re likely to get very different opinions about the Les Bois red down towards Champagny-en-Vanoise village. For some skiers and snowboarders, it’s a nightmarish, narrow track on a steep gradient filled with too many other riders. Others, this writer included, really like it.

As a general rule, if you’re into side-hits (skier or snowboarder) and like to drop off main runs into the trees, you’ll likely enjoy Les Bois – particularly after fresh snow. This makes it one of La Plagne’s best red runs – albeit depending on your perspective. Beginners, however, should probably avoid this as it can get bumpy (as well as icy in sections, depending on conditions) – plus the track is quite narrow with trees either side for the majority.

After a winding top section, the run mellows for the final third with a nice run-in to Champagny where you can take the Champagny gondola for the ride back up. You should also be aware, due to its southerly aspect and low altitude, this and the Mont de la Guerre red are normally two of the earliest runs to close in La Plagne.
