The Frisbee (previous name Mercédès( black drops off the top of Les Verdons towards Plagne Centre. It’s one of only 17 black runs in the whole resort and, at 1.5km, is one of the longest. That said, really only the top section is black and the run soon shallows into a long run-out that would be blue at best.

As this is another of La Plagne’s ‘Natur’ runs (ie unpisted), the top section can get very tough later in the season as the bumps build. Really, though the moguls are the toughest part of this piste – without them, this is a wholly manageable run for most riders intermediate and up. At 31°, it won’t win any prizes for steepness (the Carina red off Grande Rochette is 29°) but is still worth doing for advanced riders.

In truth, however, the best steep challenges in La Plagne lie outside the patrolled area. Get a guide to explore the much steeper stuff in and around the domain.

Pros
  • Steep – at the top
  • Views off Rochette
  • Usually quiet
  • Long run
  • Good if you like bumps
  • Great in powder
Cons
  • Bottom 2/3 flat for a black
  • Moguls are hardest part
  • V irregular bumps
  • Don’t attempt if it’s icy
