Drag lifts have fallen particularly out of favour in recent years as most French resorts have made the move to upgrade to much quicker, more comfortable detachable chairs. However, they can still serve a useful purpose in a multitude of circumstances, as can be seen in the Biolley / Aime 2000 sector of La Plagne. In particular, the short Crêtes drag lift travels up a short (often windy) ridge that would be totally impractical for a chair to climb – while the slow drag lifts around the main Aime 2000 station are perfect for beginners to find their feet while also getting used to the sensation of sliding on snow.
