A guide to the archive lifts removed from the La Plagne glacier: In an effort to minimise the damage being done to the high Alpine terrain – in no small part down to a warming planet and retreading glaciers – La Plagne’s SAP took the bold decision in 2023 to remove their previous lift offerings on the Bellecôte / Chiaupe glaciers. To be fair, these areas were ‘glaciers’ in name only – the icepack disappeared long ago. These changes have given better access to some of the best off-piste in La Plagne.
Once upon a long ago, La Plagne was one of only a very areas that offered summer skiing – however those days are long past. Regardless, almost as homage, below are the lifts that used to exist up high.
