A holiday to Champagny-en-Vanoise is completely different to staying in any other sector of La Plagne. For a start, Champagny is first and foremost a traditional Savoyard village that also just happens to be connected to one of the world’s biggest ski areas. The pace of life down here is considerably slower than in the higher Alpine resorts of La Plagne – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t good bars and restaurants – just things tend to be quieter down here. To make up for that, the Champagny sector offers some of La Plagne’s best skiing and snowboarding, served by a fast and efficient network of lifts – although you should remember the runs back to the village are rated red. Also, as there’s only one route out of town on the Champagny gondola, there can be queues in the morning (plus a lot of accommodation isn’t situated particularly close). Nonetheless, when you reach the top, the views here are breathtaking over to Trois Vallées in the distance and Grande Casse / Pralognan la Vanoise.
