La Plagne by train Geneva airport into Geneva
We have an extensive article detailing the stages of the La Plagne train from Geneva. However, to summarise, when you arrive in Geneva, head left out of the terminal building towards the train station then go down the elevator (or take the lift). You’ll find easy-to-use automated ticket terminals to your right or you could also ask the staff in the kiosks. You will need to book a train to Geneva Cornavin then Chambéry and onto Aime. This can all be done with one ticket. You can use this link to book La Plagne train tickets.
Geneva to La Plagne by train
The first step is to catch the very short train ride into Geneva city centre and the main Cornavin train station. You will cross the border here but it’s very simple. From there, look for your connecting train to Chambéry. If you have a long connection, there is a McDonalds five minutes to the left of Cornavin or a reasonably-priced bar just across the road.
From Geneva, you stay on the train until Chambéry where you’ll change trains to head to Bourg-St-Maurice. Aime is the second-to-last station on the line. Once you get to Aime train station, head left as leave you building and you’ll find the bus stops for the network serving La Plagne.

Geneva to Champagny-en-Vanoise by train
The instructions are exactly the same as above except you’ll need to get off at Moûtiers train station. This station also doubles as the bus station so you can take a connecting valley bus up to Champagny – or even take a taxi as the drive is pretty short.
Geneva to Montchavin by train
if you’re staying in Plagne Montchavin, you can either get out at Aime and book a taxi or stay on for one more stop to Landry which is closer to Montchavin and Les Coches. There are valley buses but the schedule isn’t so frequent so it might be easier to take a taxi for the final stage of your journey.
Chambéry to La Plagne by train
Chambéry train station is just a short taxi ride from the airport. Once you get to the station, you’ll find frequent trains to Aime and, thereafter, Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Again, just follow the instructions above for your particular resort but valley buses are regular from Aime up to the main stations. Should you arrive too late to take the train, there are numerous hotels in Chambéry close to the train station.
Lyon to La Plagne by train
Despite being the largest of the three local airports, Lyon remains the least used connection point for the Tarentaise resorts and taking the train is slightly more convoluted. Click to find full details of taking the Lyon train to La Plagne. The journey isn’t especially complex but it does involve more stops.
Aime train station
La Plagne is served by the train station at Aime which also doubles as the bus station for the network of valley buses. From here, it’s very easy to hop onto the buses to all the main La Plagne resorts apart from Champagny and Montchavin. See above for details. Note, if you arrive too late for these services, there are many Aime la Plagne hotels nearby.
