Lovatière (Verdons Nord replacement)
La Plagne’s seemingly endless mission to upgrade the resort’s older lifts continues at pace again this year with the announcement of a new replacement lift for the aging (and painfully slow) Verdons Nord TSF chair. The Verdons Nord fixed chair used to rise from around a third of the way up the Verdons slopes in the Grande Rochette sector up to the Les Verdons peak which then gave access over to the Champagny sector and some of La Plagne’s best blue pistes and best red pistes, including the Bozelet blue and Mont de la Guerre red down to Champagny village.
The route of the new Lovatiere detachable chair
This year, skiers and snowboarders will instead be able to ride the new replacement high-speed, detachable six-person Lovatière chair to the summit, direct from the Front de Neige at Plagne Centre. This mimics the route taken by the Funiplagne from Centre up to the summit of Grande Rochette and will dramatically cut journey times (at last).
The old Verdons Nord TSD chair
In truth, the Verdons Nord has been due an upgrade for some time but, nonetheless, bravo La Plagne for not just installing a replacement and instead lengthening this lift so it becomes a far more practical option out of Plagne Centre to reach these runs and these sectors.
All being well, the new Lovatiere TSD chair will be ready in time for the 2021/22 season – presuming the covid nasties don’t mystically reappear.
La Plagne’s new Lovatière chair
Pictures from La Plagne dated 11th September of the new Lovatière chair – just waiting for the installation of the chairs next, apparently in the same colour scheme as the nearby Becoin.
