If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to get to La Plagne that you can make any day of the week, you should consider taking the train to La Plagne from Paris. Thanks to France’s high-speed TGV network, trains direct to Aime in the valley below La Plagne make the journey in blisteringly fast time. Check below for our Paris to La Plagne by train guide. On any given day, various options require one or two changes but you should also look for direct trains that are even easier. As a general guide, the train takes around four to five hours and goes past Moûtiers for those staying in Champagny-en-Vanoise. This stop also works for the Trois Vallées resorts (Courchevel, Brides-les-Bains, Méribel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens).

The video above shows the approximate route from Paris Gare du Nord to Bourg-Sainte-Maurice. The stop at Moûtiers is at around 1m 30s with Aime just a few seconds later as the train proceeds down the Isère valley towards Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Note – even if you take the train, you’ll still do the last leg by La Plagne valley bus or with a La Plagne transfer company. Paris to Les Arcs by train and funiculaire

how to get from Bourg-St-Maurice to Les Arcs

If you’re staying in Les Arcs, you’ll wait until the train pulls into Bourg and can then take the regular funiculaire up to Arc 1600. From there, it’s easy to organise a ride to your accommodation (this is easiest for 1600 and 1800). The base of the funiculaire is a short walk and climb over a bridge from the arrival platform at Bourg-Saint-Maurice bus/train station.

Bus links from Bourg to other resorts

How to take the train from Paris to La Plagne, Les Arcs, Val d'Isère, Tignes, La Rosière or Sainte-Foy

For the other resorts further down the valley, Bourg’s bus terminal has regular links to all the nearby ski areas with varying journey times. Expect about an hour / hour and a half. You can catch buses or find a taxi by walking directly through the terminal building.

Also, taking the train to Bourg is one of the best ways to get to the summer glacier riding in Tignes. The majority of transfer companies don’t operate during the summer months.

Geneva to the Tarentaise resorts by train

I’ve made this journey more times than I can remember and have always found it one of the best ways to get to the Tarentaise ski areas, particularly outside the regular season or if you want to be more flexible with your travel arrangements.
