LA PLAGNE PISTE GUIDES

Roc du Diable blue piste

A link piste under Col de Forcle — mostly used for access to Leitchoums, the park and Champagny, but it’s great fun for side hits when it’s open

Roc du Diable blue piste: The Plagne Bellecôte piste Roc du Diable is another run used more for access than anything else, though there are options for side hits on this machine-cut track.

The piste slices its way beneath the Col de Forcle peak, linking Blanchets with Leitchoums, the snow park and the Geisha blue run over to the Champagny sector. The gradient is forgiving all the way and the run tends to stay pretty quiet as most riders opt to just stick to the Blanchets piste.

A mellow access run with loads of side hits — but don’t duck barriers when it’s closed, as Col de Forcle is a notorious avalanche zone

Important safety note: After fresh snow, this piste is often marked as closed. Don’t be like many people and just duck the barriers. The Col de Forcle above is a notorious avalanche zone and, when the slope is loaded, there is a very real risk of natural slides occurring.

If you want to get to Leitchoums or the park when Roc du Diable is shut, ride down and take the Col de Forcle drag lift instead. Genuinely, it’s not worth the risk.

THE POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES

Roc du Diable Pros and cons

The pluses and minuses of this route

Roc du Diable blue piste: A handy link piste with lots of side hits and a surprisingly isolated feel — but it’s frequently closed after snowfall, and the area above Col de Forcle is avalanche-prone, so don’t ever duck the barriers.

Pros Cons
Pathway piste Often closed
Side hits (lots) Can funnel traffic when open
Feels isolated Don’t duck the fence — avalanche exposure above
Easy access off-piste
Accesses snow park
SKI INSURANCE

Heading into unfamiliar terrain?

Proper ski insurance matters more than most people realise.

Quick tip: Even straightforward pistes can change quickly with weather, visibility and traffic. Good cover means lift evacuation, medical help and rescue costs are handled if something goes wrong — which in the Alps can otherwise be expensive.

If you haven’t sorted cover yet, it’s worth doing before your trip.
