Plagne Montalbert lift Grangette
The Plagne Montalbert lift Grangette is an extending rope lift climbing out of Montalbert village which ascends around one-third of the way up Le Fornelet. It tends to be used by race-training classes more than anyone else due to its slightly steep trajectory – plus the fact it also gives quick access to the Stade de Slalom rather than having to take the Montalbert gondola to the top and ride all the way back down.
The Grangette lift crosses a bridge over the Gentil blue piste mid-way up which, combined with the decreased stability of a rope lift, can put many less experienced riders off. Avoid this lift if it’s icy – the gondola is a much easier option.
- Long drag lift
- Usually quiet
- Near restaurants etc
- Access lower runs
- Great scenery (look behind you)
- Tricky drag lift
- Seems a little pointless
- Avoid when it’s icy
- Montalbert gondola is a better option with access to more runs
