Although the Plagne Montalbert piste Montalbert blue run is clearly within bounds, you may well feel like you need a La Plagne guide to pick your way from top to bottom. This run intersects so many pistes on the way down that it’s almost impossible to follow it start to finish without dropping onto another piste accidentally. Luckily, most of these runs are also blues so intermediates shouldn’t be scared of ending up on a red by accident (the reds tend to be easy to identify as they cut a more direct route).

The Montalbert zig-zags its way from the summit of Fornelet to just above Plagne Montalbert village. The top section is easy to follow but, when you reach the point where the run becomes the Fornelet red, you should drop off to your right. The run then continues to traverse left and right until it reaches a small nursery area near a road crossing and some buildings.

Contrary to what seems natural, you should go right here (not the direction of the road). The piste then continues down a shallow gradient through the trees before it exits near the top of the Montalbert beginner lift in the village. Due to its winding nature through the trees (and abundance of side hits) this run is suitable for all levels – though intermediates obviously will get the most from it.

Note – Montalbert is a great place to come after fresh snow as the snow remains untracked here longer than anywhere else giving you a chance to try some easy and accessible La Plagne off-piste riding. Also, on bad weather days, the trees provide great protection from the elements and improve visibility.
