How to get to La Plagne: La Plagne is located close to Moûtiers in the Savoie region of France. It is very well connected by road and rail. In most cases, if you’re travelling from abroad, you will likely fly into Geneva airport from where it’s very easy to get to the resort. Note, even if you fly to another airport (for example, Lyon), the information below will still apply. See our Lyon to La Plagne page for more detailed information from Saint-Exupéry airport.

La Plagne travel options

The best ways to get to La Plagne are private transfer, shared transfer, taking the train, hiring a car or booking an all-inclusive holiday. More details below:

  1. Private transfer: You can book a private transfer service from Geneva airport to La Plagne. This is a convenient and comfortable option, especially if you are traveling in a group or carrying a lot of luggage. Direct, private transfers are normally quicker and you’ll have the vehicle to yourself.
  2. Shared transfer: Another option is to book a shared transfer service. This can be a more affordable option if you are traveling alone or in a small group. You will be sharing the vehicle with other passengers going to the same or similar nearby destinations. Multiple operators offer this service including Bensbus and Altibus. You will commonly stop at Moûtiers or Aime and have to change bus to get to your particular village in La Plagne (all included in the service).
  3. Taking the train to La Plagne: You can take a train from Geneva airport to Aime La Plagne station. From there, you can take a valley bus or a taxi to the ski centre. This option can be cheaper, but it may take longer and be less convenient than a private or shared transfer. We have a full guide on getting to La Plagne by train.
  4. Rental car: You can also rent a car from Geneva airport and drive to La Plagne. This can give you more flexibility and independence during your trip, but it may be more expensive and require more planning. You should also remember parking in La Plagne is quite limited.
  5. Book an all-inclusive holiday: With an all-inclusive La Plagne holiday, your transfer, accommodation and meals are all included in your trip. You will probably also be able to book lessons, ski hire and your lift pass.

Overall, the best travel option for you will depend on your budget, group size and personal preferences.
