The La Plagne Funslope
La Plagne has Europe’s longest funslope, located a little above Plagne Bellecôte and served by the Arpette chairlift. While the La Plagne Funslope isn’t exactly the most challenging, it’s still worth a go – particularly if you have little ones in tow.
Riding the La Plagne funslope
To access the funslope, you want to head to the hub of lifts at the base of Plagne Bellecôte then take the high-speed detachable Arpette chair to the summit. On the way up, you’ll pass over the run giving you a good idea of what to expect. At the top of Arpette, just head skier’s left as you get off the chair, back in the direction of Bellecôte.
Is the funslope difficult?
In truth, the three boardercross pistes that are located in Champagny, above Montchavin and the one near the La Plagne snowpark probably provide a greater challenge. Then again, this is called a ‘fun’ slope for a reason and, much like most of La Plagne, this run is most definitely aimed at kids or more leisurely riders. The preview video La Plagne produced seems to have overstated the features (although perhaps we rode it late in the season). Either way, it’s still worth doing. Early intermediates and above should handle most of the features. Remember, you can always ride around most if you don’t want to do them.
La Plagne funslope features
The funslope has a few features that you may not have tried in the past like a couple of boxes, a bridge, some banked turns and a few (very mellow) ramps. There are also a couple of tunnels plus some interactive hand-slap features that make a noise when you high-five them. Really though, unless you’re a total beginner, there isn’t anything here that will provide anything particularly challenging. Then again – that’s kinda not the point. The total length of the run is around 1.6km – all very easily accessed from the fast Arpette chair. That said, despite its speed, this lift is rated among our La Plagne lifts to avoid – mostly because it can suffer horrendous queues during the busiest times in the resort.
