Bellecôte glacier piste Dérochoir

20180207_144913-1200x675.jpg

The long Dérochoir piste runs from the base of the Châlet de Bellecôte chair down into the gully below the Roche de Mio sector to the foot of the Bauches chair – which is actually in the Montchavin sector of La Plagne. Although this run is officially graded black, much of it is anything but – particularly the bottom section.

There is also much more challenging descents to be found off the side of Roche de Mio, from the Inversens ridge – though you’ll need a guide to ride these safely. Nonetheless, the views in this area across Les Arcs and over the Isère valley to Mont Blanc are still impressive – even if the run is slightly less so.

Pros
  • Great views
  • Fun after fresh snow
  • Multiple off-piste routes possible
  • Feels very isolated, almost backcountry
Cons
  • Bottom gets very flat
  • Often closed – especially late season
  • Better runs exist above, off the Inversens ridge (get a guide)
