The top of the red-graded Champagny piste Hara-Kiri follows a very similar path to that of the black-graded Bosses piste – which might make you wonder which is the correctly rated of the two. In truth, Bosses is probably optimistically rated black and, really, it’s the bumps that make that piste a challenge more than anything else.

Hara-Kiri is an enjoyable red piste (one of the few Champagny red pistes) accessed from the top of Les Verdons, dropping back down into the main Champagny sector. The run crosses under the Verdons Sud chair before merging with the lower section of the Bozelet blue which takes you back down to the foot of the Verdons Sud or Borseliers chair.

Another alternative is to veer right near the restaurant and continue on the lowest section of the Kamikaze red piste which also takes you to the base station of Verdons Sud.

Pros
  • Wide open piste
  • Great for carving
  • Very fast
  • Interesting route
  • Varied terrain
  • Sidehits
  • Long
  • Varying gradient
  • Incredible scenery
  • Easy-access off piste
Cons
  • Top steep for a red
  • Bottom more a blue
