Year on year, the Grande Rochette lift Bergerie chair below Plagne Soleil tops the list of busiest lifts in La Plagne so, if possible, it’s really best to try and avoid it. Bergerie is used as the primary access link between the Plagne Centre / Plagne 1800 sides of the mountain and the Belle Plagne / Plagne Bellecôte sector. It’s also extremely popular with ski schools and definitely best avoided after 10am through the busy holiday periods that use the Écartée piste – one of La Plagne’s best intermediate runs.

A main route to get to Bellecôte and beyond

If you’re staying in Soleil or Villages, it’s quicker to take the Dou du Praz and link over using the Bretelle Trieuse – while those staying in Plagne 1800, Plagne Centre or Aime 2000 could consider taking the Funiplagne followed by Mira and branching onto Trieuse to access Bellecôte.

If you do take the Bergerie, options at the top include a short link towards the base of Mira on the right for Centre, Trieuse to the left (for Bellecôte) or Écartée to the right back to Soleil / Villages. The lift itself is quick – it’s just the sheer number of users that frequently causes problems – plus the fact many are beginners which can mean delays caused by falling while they’re getting on or off.

Pros
  • Accesses good runs
  • Fast, 6-person lift
  • Good for Plagne Villages & Soleil
Cons
  • Many beginners
  • Many ski schools
  • One of the most popular lifts in La Plagne
  • Lift is almost always busy with horrendous queues at busiest times
