Grande Rochette lift Dou du Praz

Say hello to the Dou du Praz drag lift out of Plagne Soleil. If you’re staying in either Plagne Villages or Plagne Soleil, this lift might just become your best friend. Read on to learn why.
Why use the Dou du Praz?
The Grande Rochette lift Dou du Praz is mostly overlooked by visitors to La Plagne staying in Plagne Soleil or Plagne Villages – mainly because it doesn’t seem to serves any purpose. The main run to the side (Soleil blue) is short and uninteresting – and the other options (Bretelle Trieuse to the right and Dou du Praz) also seem rather pointless. And in many ways, they are – until you scratch the surface and realise these runs allow you access to areas that you’d otherwise have to take the Bergerie chair to get to.
Dou du Praz vs Bergerie
In the busiest times of the season, a ride on the Bergerie can take up to 25-30 minutes due to the sheer mass of people. Conversely, the Dou du Praz lift rarely sees any queues yet grants quick access across to Plagne Bellecôte (on the Bretelle Trieuse run) or Plagne 1800 (on the Dou du Praz piste, thereby avoiding the normally busy Écartée piste).
Just be aware this is an extending rope drag lift – which some riders find more difficult than the traditional pole variety. However the time-savings more than make up for this.
- Avoids Bergerie chair
- Queues very rare
- Short & relatively fast
- Quick route over to Bellecôte
- Dou du Praz piste quiet option to get to 1800
- Extending rope tow difficult for some
