La Plagne Gd Rochette to Plagne Bellecôte via Petite Rochette > Leitchoums

New-Project-2021-09-16T183105.630-1200x675.jpg

This is definitely a less conventional way to reach Plagne Bellecôte from Grande Rochette – however, it can be a very good option for lower-level riders that don’t feel up to tackling the steep pitch of the Mira run (which is actually pretty harsh for just a blue run).

This route is just one of many that make the most of La Plagne’s huge vertical drop – although, granted, this is one of the shorter routes with a smaller vertical of a little short of 600m. Take the Mira then Petite Rochette off Grande Rochette

Starting out from Grande Rochette, exit left from the Funiplagne and follow the start of the Mira blue run. However, you’ll want to stay as far right as possible on this run to take the exit that flows off to the right (the pathway to the right of the ridge in the picture at the top of this article).

When you join this run – the Petite Rochette – you’re technically crossing into the Champagny sector – even though it’s considered one of the Grande Rochette runs. Regardless, once you get past the switchbacks that are a big feature of this run, it naturally terminates at the top of the Col de Forcle poma, where you’ll want to continue straight on (well, slightly left actually) to join the . . .

Leitchoums blue piste towards Plagne Bellecôte

The Leitchoums piste has many long flat sections – particularly as it nears the Colosses chair – so you definitely want to keep your speed as much as possible to save walking. The piste then drops right where you’ll likely end up linking onto any number of pistes, including the Rhodos or bottom of Trieuse. Anyway, however you choose to get down, just keep heading in the direction of Bellecôte until you reach the Bellecôte hub of lifts – the Arpette chair, Colosses chair, Blanchets chair and Belle Plagne gondola.

Alternatively, if you want to take a break, go slightly further right as you look down the hill and drop in past Le Bonnet for a snack or a quick beer.
