The short Ecureuils drag lift serves a great beginner area which is easily accessed from Montchavin Les Coches via either the Lac Noir gondola or Plan Bois chair. Total beginners will likely use the Lac Noir for uplift and downlift – at least until they find their feet enough to tackle riding down on the Mont Blanc blue or the multititude of other Montchavin blue pistes.

The piste here runs alongside a section of the Mont Blanc piste but, as it’s off to the side, traffic is much lighter – perfect for novice skiers and snowboarders. There’s also the benefit of nearby restaurants for those all-important breaks between learning.

Pros
  • Great views
  • Easy, slow drag lift
  • Serves good beginner area
  • Very close to three on-hill restaurants
  • Allows beginners to learn higher up the mountain
Cons
  • If you can ride this, it might be better riding the long Mt Blanc instead
