Pierres Blanches is another hugely enjoyable blue pistes in the Montchavin sector (and one of La Plagne’s best blue runs) that cuts and traverses its way through the forested area high above the Montchavin village.

The run starts just above the tree-line next to the top of the chair of the same name and also the base of the Dos Rond chair and Plan Leschaux drag lift. If you’re coming from the direction of the summit, just stay right as you near the restaurant to follow the path that naturally leads to Pierres Blanches. La Plagne’s best intermediate piste, the Mont Blanc blue drops away to the left while Pierres Blanches is pretty much straight on.

The Pierres Blanches – one of La Plagne’s best blue runs

After a short flat section, you’ll veer right before reaching the junction with the Myrtilles blue (left). Stay on the main run (right) here and, after travelling right for a little while, the run will soon veer back to the left as you drop towards the joining point with the Mont Blanc piste.

Pierres Blanches is always quieter than the Mont Blanc piste so can be a top tip when the resort is busier. Also, freestyle riders will enjoy the multiple opportunities for side-hits all the way down. Alternatively, when there’s fresh snow (and if you have the skills), try dropping off to the right into the woods. This area offers considerably easier and more accessible La Plagne off-piste than some other sectors. The trees here are quite tightly bunched and on a pretty steep slope but, if you find a good line, you can get multiple laps in here taking the Pierres Blanches chair back up.

Note, as with all off-piste riding in the area, you would be well-advised to hire a La Plagne guide to make the most this part of the resort.
