With its unbroken views over Mont Blanc, the Montchavin piste Stade de la Buffette red run is a really fun ride on a clear day and one of La Plagne’s best view pistes. As well as being wide (and normally flat due to the lack of traffic), this run features multiple banks either side in the top section before the side-netting kicks in to protect riders when the track is used as a race piste. Access is via the long Mont Blanc blue, about midway down the run on the left. It is one of La Plagne’s best red runs

Actually, the only problem with the Stade de la Buffette piste is it’s frequently closed off for racing – either training or for competitions. The run terminates near the Lac Noir gondola which you can take back up to complete the same lap, again dropping off the short section of the Mont Blanc blue.

Pros
  • Sidehits
  • Great views
  • Wide, fast piste
  • Great for carving
  • Usually quiet
Cons
  • Often closed for race training
