The Plagne Montalbert lift Grenouilles is an extending-pole drag lift high above Montalbert village serving a very short green beginners’ piste – one of La Plagne’s best novice ski/snowboard areas. Accessed via the main Montalbert gondola, the lift is perfect for skiers and snowboarders that are just starting out and gives the chance to explore the higher mountain. There is also a beginners’ area down near the village – but it doesn’t share the same great views as getting up high.

Moreover, the Grenouilles poma is slow and easy to ride – ideal for first-timers to get used to handling lifts. Total beginners can ride the gondola back down to Montalbert at the end of the day or, as they progress, slowly build up to the myriad of Montalbert blues that flow back towards the village. This beginner zone also has the added benefit of being near the new 360 restaurant making it easy to take a well-earned break.

Pros
  • Great for beginners
  • Normally sunny
  • Near 360 restaurant
  • Serves good, high beginner area
Cons
  • In holiday periods, this lift often gets busy
