Montchavin and Les Coches offer mostly apartment and chalet accommodation with all the facilities you could need but are also considerably quieter than the higher resorts. Also, at the start and end of the season, you should expect to be riding hard snow earlier in the day and much softer, sometimes slushy snow at the end. In recent years, cover has mostly been on artificial snow at the start the winter. All that said, the Montchavin sector features some of La Plagne’s fastest lifts so queues on this side are relatively rare. Also note – unlike the high Alpine stations, bus services are basic here so you’re rather limited in your options at night – unless you have a car.
