A holiday to Champagny is very different from staying in the higher resorts. Champagny is first and foremost a traditional Savoyard village that also happens to be connected to one of the world’s biggest ski areas. The pace of life down here is considerably slower than up high. To make up for that, the Champagny sector offers some of La Plagne’s best skiing and snowboarding, served by some of La Plagne’s fastest lifts. However, the runs back to the village are rated red. Also, the Champagny gondola can get busy in the morning and a lot of accommodation isn’t situated particularly close to this lift. Check the iRide / La Plagne 360 YouTube channel for more info.

While village life might not be for everyone, the charm of Champagny should win you over. Champagny features some of the best runs and off-piste in La Plagne but you should remember the low altitude and mostly south-facing runs mean early and late season snow cover can be patchy. These lower runs are often the first to close in La Plagne. Champagny also makes it very easy to do a day riding Trois Vallées via the lower Courchevel stations or Brides-les-Bains.
