In season, 2018/19 (and pretty much every season thereafter), the Plagne Bellecôte lift Arpette chair had the somewhat dubious distinction of being the busiest lift in La Plagne. Along with the Bergerie chair out of Plagne Soleil, this lift almost always suffers from long queues – though it’s easy to understand why. Just like Bergerie, this lift forms a main arterial link between different sectors of La Plagne – in this case, it’s the primary link from the main areas over to Montchavin sector and Les Arcs.

A new lift is planned from the foot of Inversens chair up to the top of the Crozats chair which will help alleviate the load on this chair but, until it’s built, the only realistic route for most riders wanting to go to the Montchavin sector will remain the Arpette lift.

From the top, riders can choose between heading back to base on the Fun Slope, Dunes, Arpette or Laines blue pistes. Alternatively, you can ride down the other side on the short Replat blue to access the Montchavin sector via either the Replat rope tow or the full run to the bottom and the Crozats chair. The Arpette chair also gives access to the Ange carpet and beginner area. The views at the top over Les Arcs, the Isère valley and Mont Blanc are spectacular – so much so, this lift makes the list of best La Plagne views.

Pros
  • Fast, long chair
  • Beginner area at top
  • Impressive scenery
  • Great runs from top
  • Access to Montchavin sector / Les Arcs
Cons
  • Queues can be horrendous
  • Arpette pistes also frequently busy
